Course Summary:

Participants in this Bible Study Course will learn various aspects of character and how to develop and maintain a strong moral character. Lessons include walking in character, seeking wisdom, understanding God's character and its implications for leadership, growing in character, recognizing the cost of denial and dangers of unchecked ambition, being a witness of our character through our actions, and setting our minds on what is excellent. These lessons draw from a range of biblical passages, including Deuteronomy 5:32-33, Proverbs 2, Exodus 34:6-7, 2 Peter 1:5-8, Peter's betrayal, Judges 9, and the examples of Jacob and Laban.

Participants can expect to learn how to walk in character by following God's commands, and how to inspire others to do the same, through a discussion of Deuteronomy 5:32-33. The study explores the challenges and encouragements in the verses, as well as the consequences of not walking in character as leaders. The optional activity encourages participants to focus on one commandment from God and hold each other accountable in following through on their commitment.

This study aims to encourage leaders to prioritize seeking wisdom from God and to apply it to their lives and leadership. By reading and discussing Proverbs 2:1-11 together, the group will explore the importance of seeking wisdom, the benefits of doing so, and practical ways to make it a priority. They will also discuss how to treasure and apply the wisdom received from God and how to discern between those who are seeking wisdom and those who are not. Finally, the group will create a personal action plan for seeking wisdom and share it with each other for accountability and support.

The discussion will focus on the character traits described in 2 Peter 1:5-8 and practical steps to cultivate them in your life.

In this study, you can expect to learn about the dangers of denying one's faith and compromising values as a leader. The focus is on exploring the story of Peter's betrayal and drawing lessons to encourage leaders to remain steadfast in their commitment to Christ. The discussion also covers ways to overcome fears and pressures, seek forgiveness and restoration, and extend grace and forgiveness to others.

This study aims to explore the dangers of unchecked ambition in leadership and to encourage leaders to strive for humility and servant leadership. The group will discuss Judges 9:1-15 and reflect on how ambition can be positive or dangerous, the importance of humility in leadership, and strategies for avoiding the pitfalls of unchecked ambition.
